Dispa Rock

30 min Boat Ride and 32 m Depth

Dispa Rock is the deepest and most remarkable dive site in Weligama and Mirissa, offering a unique diving experience.

With a sandy bottom and smaller rocks, Dispa Rock is perfect for deep dives, where you might spot Blue Whales, Whale Sharks, and Manta Rays. At the pinnacle’s top, tiny blue Triggerfish and hunting Barracudas create an exciting and beautiful scene.

Noisy Rock

20 min Boat Ride and 20 m Depth

Noisy Rock is famous for its swim-throughs and small caves, making it an exciting dive site. These rocky formations host diverse marine life, including Lionfish, Pufferfish, Glassfish, and small Barracudas.

Diving here, you might encounter Giant Morays, Cleaner Shrimps, Yellow Margin Morays, Nudibranchs, and Giant Pufferfish, with occasional sightings of Mantas and Rays gliding by.

Mirissa Point

15 min Boat Ride and 12 m Depth

Mirissa Point is an ideal spot for beginners, with a dive depth ranging from 6 to 12 meters. The sandy bottom allows for extended underwater time, often exceeding an hour, making it perfect for learning.

This site is also excellent for night diving, offering a great opportunity for your first steps into the world of diving. You can observe Angelfish, Parrotfish, Groupers, and Giant Pufferfish here. Mirissa Point is easily accessible and ideal for new divers.

Yala Rock

20 min Boat Ride and 24 m Depth

Yala Rock is one of Weligama’s most impressive dive sites, featuring large rock formations rising from 20 meters to just 5 meters below the surface.

This dive spot offers adventurous swim-throughs with small caves to explore. You’ll find Stonefish and Lionfish along the rocks, and there’s a good chance of spotting turtles and lobsters during your dive. As you ascend for your safety stop, you may be surrounded by large schools of Fusiliers and Snappers, making for an unforgettable experience.

The prime season for diving at Yala Rock is from December through April, with the best time to encounter dolphins and sharks between November and mid-April. The average water and air temperature is a comfortable 27°C (81°F).

Patch Point

30 min Boat Ride and 20 m Depth

Patch Point, also known as ‘Prince Heinrich’s Patch’ (PHP) on maritime charts, is located southeast of Weligama Bay, 3 kilometers off the coast of Mirissa Beach.

This unique dive site is scattered with small round rocks, remnants from centuries ago when merchant ships unloaded these stones to make room for spices bound for Europe.

Patch Point boasts vibrant marine life, home to species such as Powder Blue Surgeonfish, Clown Triggerfish, Honeycomb Moray Eels, Stingrays, and many other fascinating underwater creatures.

The prime diving season at Patch Point is from December through April, with the best chances of encountering dolphins and sharks between November and mid-April. The average water temperature matches the air temperature at 27°C (81°F).
